In 2020 (the COVID-19 year) Oxfordshire Arts invested in two, new, purpose-built Artist’s Pods to provide additional classroom space. These were used during our Autumn 2020 Term, as some of you will have experienced. They are light and spacious (12 ft by 8 ft), equipped with the Studio basics (sink, workbenches, shelves, etc.) and air-conditioned.
While we are operating under the Government’s COVID-19 Guidelines, we will be continuing to use the Artist’s Pods as additional teaching spaces. However, this does leave scope for them to be used for other purposes in non-teaching days and holidays and once we are free of the COVID-19 restrictions on our business, we can have the Pods made available full time for artists to use.
Our vision is to make the two Artist’s Pods available for rental as a basic creative space for a very affordable hourly rate. Although we are primarily a Ceramics Studio, we did not want to style the pods as “Pottery Pods”. While we recognise that most people using the pods will be potters, we wanted to encourage anyone interested in the creative arts, and lacking a private space to be creative in, to be able to rent them out. If you brought all your own (easily portable!) tools and equipment, you could be creative for no additional cost. If, however, you needed a bag of clay, and some of your clay creations bisque fired, then there would be an additional cost (see schedules, below).
We would love to hear from any artists who may want to discuss their creative plans, or pop over for a visit to see the Pods. To contact Alison please click or tap here.
