General Safety

  • Please bring your own mask with you to class, wear it on arrival and in all communal areas and when you need to be less than 1 metre from a tutor. We have provided a visor for extra safety measures. Please make sure it is sanitised at the end of the session. All close-up contact should be side to side so please try not to do face to face unless behind a Perspex screen.
  • Clean hands thoroughly either by soap and water or hand sanitiser before touching communal items. There is a quarantine shelf in the pods for communal items to be sterilized after the session.
  • Be aware of the 1 metre + social distancing at all times – you may have to wait for access to communal areas, please be patient. Have a chat…
  • Tea and coffee can only be served by the tutor. Please ask if you need anything from the kitchen. Cups need to go in the open dishwasher when you’ve finished with them. If the dishwasher isn’t open please ask a tutor to do it.
  • Equipment and clay will be handled and handed out to you by a tutor. Items will be placed on the benches opposite the sinks. Please wait until the tutor has moved away before collecting.
  • The toilet has been redesigned with COVID in mind. Please find cleaning products/paper towels/wipes to clean touched surfaces after use – including door handles. You can always clean beforehand as well if you have any concerns.
  • The studio is cleaned after every session. However, to help we ask you to thoroughly clean your space. Clear your space and then clean. Please find wipes/washing bowls/sanitising spray in your pod cupboards on the top shelf. You need to clean all the equipment you have used/touched, including your stool.
  • Please place hand towels and aprons in your washing up bowls when you have finished cleaning.*All aprons/towels will be washed in a 600c wash as laid out in government guidelines*
*All tools will be sanitised in a sterile/disinfectant after the session*

Bear with us – unprecedented times means unprecedented teaching. This won’t be easy for us hands-on tutors so please accept that we are learning new rules too. If we don’t quite get it right the first time, we’ll try again and again and again!

Please don’t hesitate to say if you feel there is more that we need to do for everyone’s safety and to make the studio as safe as we can in these times. All guidelines are subject to change – we will inform you either by email or at the start of the session if any of the above have changed.
