This photo gallery has a selection of work by Jon Crute.
Jon studied studio ceramics at Falmouth college of arts and went on to teach pottery in adult education and ran clay workshops. He also worked as a ceramic technician in Oxford. His recent work in clay is based on a theme first explored 25 years ago after seeing the work of Constantin Brancusi.
Jon loves the chance effects he gets from pit/barrel firing and often has fun doing sagar firing in a gas kiln here at Muster Point. The photo gallery has some detail images showing the different colours and effects that can be achieved. These types of firings are exciting and the random effects are most rewarding. Jon is running one day barrel and gas firing workshops here – come and get involved!
